Can You Canoe?

I bought a canoe! $150 for this old 17-foot Coleman! I’ve only been on a canoe THREE times in the last 25+ years since leaving Missouri where we used to go canoeing in the Ozark’s almost every weekend.

Just a few days later we took it for its inaugural trip on the Lake Sammamish “River” (It’s really just a slough) and paddled into Lake Washington to the Kenmore Air Harbor seaplane base, a round-trip distance of nearly 3 miles.

Happy faces in the slough canoe!
Had to stop at the beach so Riley could fetch some sticks!
Kenmore Air Harbor, where I got my seaplane rating back in July!
Kenmore Otter landing on Lake Washington
This one has the “Evening Magazine” livery; we watched it taxi back to Kenmore.
Headed back to the dock; Riley was really good and didn’t try to jump out, unlike last time on this trip with Mikey
Note that with just me in the back seat, the front third of the boat is out of the water; perfect for running up on the kayak ramp, which is what I did just after this photo.
A trolling motor is now on the bucketlist; this YouTuber shows how one can be mounted on a simple transom made of a 2×4 and a 2×8 and installed with no tools!! #squadgoals
