Britton Hill, FL, US Highpoint #34, 17 March 2009

Britton Hill, Florida, lies at 345 feet MSL and is ranked #50 in elevation among US Highpoints. This was the fourth US Highpoint I reached as part of a work trip after WI, TX, and HI. My job at Columbia Memorial in Astoria, Oregon sent me to Mobile, Alabama to train at CPSI for the hospital PACS Administrator job. As Britton Hill was only a couple hours away in the panhandle, I took the extra time to drive there and hike this bad boy.

See it? It is the GIANT hill on the left! Right there! No, over there! Yes, that’s it!!
Wow. Just WOW.
Looking out over the top of Florida, hehehe
My first US Highpoint in dress shoes!
I took a walk in the woods as it seemed like perhaps it was a little higher just to the southwest of the monument.
In all seriousness, in this photo you CAN see the tiny hill the road goes up. The summit is just around the corner!

From here, it would be 8 long years before I returned to the actual highpoint at Jerimoth Hill Rhode Island, and twelve years and four months before I would add a new summit #35 of Agiocochook (Mt. Washington), New Hampshire in 2021. I almost didn’t keep doing this! What happened then??
