Flying to First Air at Sunset

Katt and I took a sunset flight on 2 March 2026 up to First Air Field (W16) in Monroe from Boeing Field (BFI). First Air is scheduled to close and I figured we might as well enjoy the short field practice at this once popular field. We executed a great short-field technique landing and immediately took off to the west and headed over to Harvey field to get dinner at the Buzz Inn with Johnny! Quite unexpected but the steakhouse lived up to its name and the special (steak dinner for $16!) was great!

The views, however, were unbelievable!

Tahoma was putting on a show as seen from Boeing Field.
The Red Tailed Hawks Cessna is GORGEOUS!!!
Downtown Seattle, Space Needle visible on the right. We live in an incredible place!
Tahoma in front of the wing on the left, and Lake Washington and Puget Sound melting into the sunset at right.
Full moon over the Cascades as seen from near Monroe, Washington.
A full moon over Lake Washington soon after departure from Boeing Field.
Our trusty plane Cessna One Three Juliet at Harvey field. We could barely see the plane with our eyes; the iPhone camera is truly remarkable!
What had happened was I had hiked Lord Hill Regional Park the day before and came upon a fantastic lookout. On this flight, we spotted that place, just below center in the photo you can see an open hillside and a bright white object on the left that is the sitting bench.
Lake Washington after dark from near Bellevue looking southwest. In the distance one can visualize the floating bridges.
On the Bellevue arrival to BFI, I never get sick of this view: The stadiums in pink and blue (T-Mobile Park and Lumen Field) at center left, the Big Wheel in pink on the waterfront visible above Lumen Field (in blue), downtown, the Space Needle just visible to the left of downtown skyscrapers, I-5 ribbon of traffics center right, and the airline arrivals lining up for SEA-TAC as the lights upper right. These planes fly over me on final to Boeing Field.

I will add the videos of flying once I can get the damn YouTube embedder to work again!
