Timms Hill, WI, US Highpoint #30, 7 June 2006

Timms Hill, Wisconsin, lies at 1,951 feet MSL and is ranked #39 in elevation among US Highpoints. This was my first business trip that resulted in a US Highpoint. I was working in Denver at a job that sent me to GE headquarters in Waukesha for a week of training. The hotel I was staying at had a concierge service with rental cars AT the hotel, so the stage was set – I would play hooky during a day that was covering training that we didn’t use in Denver, so I wouldn’t miss anything important.

The rub? It would be a 500+ mile drive to north central Wisconsin and back. Ready? GO!

After a 250-mile drive from Waukesha, I had Timms Hill in sight, seen here from High Point Village and Bass Lake.
Easy 1000-foot stroll to the Timms Hill summit.
The towers allow one to see out over the deciduous canopy. The surveyed summit is below one of the towers.

I’m leaning against the Timms Hill benchmark under one of the towers.
Looking south over Bass Lake from Timms Hill Wisconsin observation tower. Beautiful green country!
This tower was taller so hell yeah I climbed this ladder!
Sketchy AF but that’s why you make every step count!
Looking east if I recall correctly
Midwest woods are great

Green Bay

I grew up hearing about the “frozen tundra of Lambeau Field” so I wasn’t going to bypass my only chance at a trip to infamous Green Bay! So from Timms I headed east before driving along Lake Michigan back to Milwaukee, an Algonquin word for “Good Land.”

The tundra was a tad “melty” on this warm June day.

I forgot to mention CHEESE!! So many dairy farms, like this one at sunset near Lake Michigan. It was over eight hours of driving and I didn’t get back until late, but hey, #30 was in the bag!!

My next highpoint would be the following month to Wheeler Peak, New Mexico.
